We’re really cooking! Frontload Friday!

Today I introduced a few of our centers for next week!  I’m so excited for some of our food themed centers.  First we practiced building compound words with pancakes. This activity can be found in my Pancake Fun pack.  (Note to self: I should have left these pancakes as a square or used them on the floor.  They keep rolling in the pocket chart. ) But the students still enjoyed building the compound words!

Next, we also learned about the –ie, -igh sound with my phonics activity Just Right Pie.

FYI - I do know there are two pies but I had trouble coming up with -ie words.  So I went ahead and put it in twice.  This usually helps me see if they are reading the words. :)

Today in math we did an activity from my Fun with Food Math Pack.  For this activity the students choose a food item and have to draw the coins they would need to buy that food item.  They LOVED this activity.  It was fun to see them generate different ways to make the same amount.

The day was cut sure due to a tornado watch and we released an hour early.  I was pretty excited to be able to come home early on a FRIDAY!  Hope you ALL have a GREAT weekend!

Lost! Sequencing, Multiple Meanings, -ook Words

The week we have been reading: Lost!  by David M. McPhail.   This story is about a bear that is lost in a big city!  Here is a look at what we have been doing:
Please leave me a comment and follow if you decide to download a free copy.  Thank you!

We wrote fantasy bear stories using the word wall!

Sorry for this bad picture.  But you get the idea!

We have used words with Multiple Meanings in sentences.

We have put our story words in ABC Order!  This ABC order sheet is saved on my computer at school!  I'll upload it in the morning!  We also practiced these words on EDUplace.com using the eWord Game!

We have been sequencing stories using this graphic organizer.
You can purchase “school themed” ones here!

We also learned the /oo/ sound like in hook!

In math we have been learning about Money!  We counted how much money we had and used Abby's Be Mine Boxes to practice Numbers!  Thanks Abby!
