How Lucky Are You? Probability Game

Hey Everyone!! Hope you are having a great day! I wanted to share a fun math activity we completed the other day.   This activity is featured in my How Lucky AreYou Math Pack!

Place these cards in the bag.

front of the bag directions   back of the bag questions

Students pull a card, record the results, and then put the card bag in the bag.

They play until one column reaches the top!!!

The students loved this activity. They were cheering for the gold, but of course they quickly realized the chance of pulling the pot of gold is less likely and the chance of pulling a four leaf clover is most likely!!  This game is PERFECT for practicing probability!!  :)  You can check it out HERE!

The Great POTATO Race

I’m so excited for St. Patty’s day tomorrow.  J
Ms. Lochridge’s from First Grade Factory just shared this idea with me.  I quickly created this sheet to use tomorrow.  You create a ramp in your classroom and race several potatoes.  Record the results and discuss.  Thought you might want a copy.
Hope you all have a Lucky day!

St. Patty's Day Potato Person

This week to celebrate St. Patty's day a little early we read this book:
My students loved this book!!
Jamie O'Rourke is the laziest man in all of Ireland.  But will his luck change when he finds a Leprechaun?  The Leprechaun gives him a magic potato seed.  His wife is not too impressed that he got a seed instead of the pot of gold . . . but will the seed actually be BETTER than a pot of gold?
After reading the book we created these adorable Potato People!!  The students loved it!!  Hope you can use this in your classroom this week!
