The NEW Wheels

This week I went to buy my NEW car!!  I’m super excited.  Guess things sometimes work out.   Thanks to those of you who posted sweet messages!! 

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW, AND TWO HOUR DELAYS

What a week. . . 

Monday we had off school due to 3 inches of snow.

Tuesday we had off school due to ½ inch of ice on top of the snow.

Wednesday we had off school to let the inch melt.

Thursday we had a 2 hour delay to let the ice melt.

Tonight we had a LARGE water line break in town  so . . .

You guessed it TWO HOUR DELAY TOMORROW!!!  To make sure the water gets turned all back on.  J   We do need to have water at school.

Guess I'll start teaching again next week! 

I think It’s Time for Some New Wheels

So . . . I was in a little accident this past week.

Actually ~~~  both cars were totaled!! At first I was happy – I thought well at least I’ll get full retail value out of my current car. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I WAS NOT HURT AT ALL---  NEITHER WERE THE PEOPLE IN THE OTHER CAR.  I only have a few black and blues which are already starting to fade away.

Turns out buying a new car isn’t much fun.  I’m still trying to decide what kind I want – or should I say – can afford.  I am also sad that most likely I won’t be getting the car with all the fancy features that I don’t need, but WANT.  The worst news is that just today I made my last car payment for the old car!!!  Jeez – Happy New YEAR!!!!   Looks like I’ll still be having a car payment next month.

National Board???

Happy National Board Certified Teacher Day!!

I recently achieved my NB Certification.  I was one of 8,600 teachers to achieve this year.  There are now over 91,000 teachers that have their certification.  I was checking out the NB website and found some interesting data.

I was shocked at the fact that North Carolina has 2,277 teachers that have their NB certification. (Compared to New Hampshire with a total of 19)  Until this year the state paid all fees for teachers during their first attempt.  North Carolina also offers a 12% increase to teachers that achieve NB.  I’m sure that is why their numbers are so high.  This made me wonder how many states encourage their teachers to work towards their NB certification.

 National Board is all about what it is we want our students to learn, how we teach it, and how do we know if our students GET IT.
