Here are some ideas to teach the sounds for Y!

I created this activity for my students to match the word with the picture. 

Then they recorded their words:

They also did several word sorts:

To end the week the students completed a Word Detective Search.  Where they searched for Y words in the books we read.

My Treasure Chest of Words

Vocabulary/ Sight Word Practice Idea

First, I had my students write their words on cut out shapes. 

Next, they glued them in to their treasure chest. 

Then they practiced writing the words in sentences. 

They loved it!!  It is a great way for them to apply their sight word knowledge!

I found these great foam flowers at AC Moore several years ago.  My students created a 3D flower picture with the foam petals, yard roots, and sun rays.  Then they labeled the parts.
